About Mark Doty

Mark Doty (born August 10, 1953) is an American poet and memoirist best known for his work exploring themes of mortality, beauty, and queer experience, particularly in response to the AIDS crisis. Foundation. He earned degrees from Drake University and Goddard College, published numerous acclaimed poetry collections and memoirs like Heaven's Coast and Dog Years, and has won major awards including the National Book Critics Circle Award, T.S. Eliot Prize (first American winner), and National Book Award for Fire to Fire. Foundation. Doty teaches at Rutgers University and lives in New York.
