About Marie Le Franc

Marie Le Franc (1879–1964) was a French novelist, poet, and short story writer born in Sarzeau, Brittany, who spent much of her life teaching and writing in Canada, drawing inspiration from its landscapes and people before returning to France in 1929. Her most notable work, the novel Grand-Louis l'innocent (1925), won the prestigious Prix Femina in 1927, and she received the Prix Montyon from the Académie française in 1932 for Au pays canadien-français, along with being named Chevalier and later Officier of the Légion d'honneur.
