Marie Hall Ets

Marie Hall Ets (1895-1984) was an American author and illustrator renowned for her children's picture books, winning the Caldecott Medal in 1960 for Nine Days to Christmas (co-authored with Aurora Labastida) and receiving four Caldecott Honors for works including In the Forest, Play with Me, Mr. T. W. Anthony Woo, and Just Me. Her notable books also include Gilberto and the Wind and Mister Penny, celebrated for their focus on nature, diverse cultures, and expressive illustrations that captured early childhood experiences.
