Margaret Louise Coit

Margaret Louise Coit (1919-2003) was an American author renowned for her historical biographies, most notably John C. Calhoun: American Portrait (1950), which won the 1951 Pulitzer Prize for Biography, and Mr. Baruch (1957), a finalist for the National Book Award. Born in Norwich, Connecticut, she specialized in American history, writing for both adults and children, with works like Fight for Union (1961) earning the Thomas Edison Award.
