MacKinlay Kantor

MacKinlay Kantor (1904-1977) was an American novelist, journalist, and screenwriter best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Andersonville (1955), which depicted the Confederate prison camp during the Civil War, and for Glory for Me (1945), adapted into the Academy Award-winning film The Best Years of Our Lives. Influenced by Civil War stories from his Iowa childhood and his World War II service, he authored over 30 novels, many historical fiction centered on American history.
