About M. G. Vassanji

M. G. Vassanji (born 1950) is a Kenyan-born Canadian novelist known for his works exploring themes of migration, diaspora, and colonial history, including the Giller Prize-winning novels The Book of Secrets (1994) and The In-Between World of Vikram Lall (2003), as well as The Gunny Sack (1989), which earned the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. Fiction. He has also received the Governor General's Award for Nonfiction for A Place Within (2009) and the Canada Council Molson Prize (2016).
