Lyndall Gordon (born November 4, 1941, in Cape Town, South Africa) is a British-based biographical writer renowned for her literary biographies including Eliot's Early Years (1977), Virginia Woolf: A Writer's Life (1984), Charlotte Brontë: A Passionate Life (1994), and Lives Like Loaded Guns (2010) on Emily Dickinson. site. Her major achievements include the Rose Mary Crawshay Prize, James Tait Black Memorial Prize, and Cheltenham Prize for Literature, and she is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Senior Research Fellow at St Hilda's College, Oxford.
