About Álvaro Mutis
Álvaro Mutis (1923–2013) was a Colombian poet, novelist, and essayist best known for his Maqroll el Gaviero novels. Born in Bogotá, he spent part of his childhood in Brussels and later lived much of his life in Mexico. He won major awards including the Cervantes Prize (2001) and Neustadt International Prize (2002).
