About Louis Menand
Louis Menand (born January 21, 1952) is an American critic, essayist, and Harvard professor best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Metaphysical Club (2001), an intellectual history of pragmatism, along with The Free World: Art and Thought in the Cold War (2021) and contributions to The New Yorker. He has received the National Humanities Medal (2015), Francis Parkman Prize, and Guggenheim Fellowship, and serves as the Anne T. and Robert M. Harvard English, NEH.
