Lord David Cecil

Lord David Cecil (1902-1986) was a distinguished British biographer, historian, and literary critic, best known for his elegant studies of literary figures including The Stricken Deer (1929), a biography of William Cowper that won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and Hawthornden Prize, as well as works on Jane Austen (1935), Lord Melbourne, and Thomas Hardy.
