About Liz Moore

Liz Moore is an American literary fiction and crime fiction author known for her atmospheric, character-driven novels. She is a professor of creative writing and her work has been praised for its literary precision alongside the propulsive qualities of genre fiction. Moore's novels include Heft, The Unseen World, Long Bright River, and The God of the Woods. Long Bright River was a New York Times bestseller and was named one of the Best Books of the Year by numerous publications. The God of the Woods (2024) won the Anthony Award for Best Hardcover Novel in 2025 and was one of the major bestsellers of 2024. She teaches in the MFA program at Temple University in Philadelphia, where she lives. Moore is known for setting her crime fiction in Philadelphia and the surrounding region, capturing the city's social textures and class dynamics.
