About Leonard D. White and Jean Schneider
Leonard Dupee White (1891-1958) was an American political scientist and historian recognized as a founder of public administration studies; he authored the seminal textbook Introduction to the Study of Public Administration (1926) and a four-volume history of U.S. administrative history, with the final volume The Republican Era, 1869–1901 (1958, assisted by Jean Schneider) winning the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1959 posthumously.
