About Leonard Baker
Leonard S. Baker (1931–1984) was an American biographer and former journalist who won the 1979 Pulitzer Prize for Biography for his work Days of Sorrow and Pain: Leo Baeck and the Berlin Jews. His other notable books include Brandeis and Frankfurter: A Dual Biography, Back to Back: The Duel Between FDR and the Supreme Court, and John Marshall: A Life in Law. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he worked as a reporter for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and Newsday before becoming a full-time author.
