About Leonard Bacon
Leonard Bacon (1887–1954) was an American poet, translator, and literary critic best known for his satiric verse, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning Sunderland Capture (1940). A Yale graduate and former professor at UC Berkeley, he published numerous poetry collections such as Ulug Beg (1923), Dream and Action (1934), and Day of Fire (1943), and was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1942.
