Leon F. Litwack

Leon Frank Litwack (1929–2021) was an American historian renowned for his scholarship on slavery, Reconstruction, and African American history in the post-Civil War era. His most notable work, Been in the Storm So Long: The Aftermath of Slavery (1979), earned the Pulitzer Prize for History, National Book Award, and Francis Parkman Prize, while other key books include North of Slavery (1961) and Trouble in Mind (1998).Leon Litwack
