Lawrence A. Cremin (1925-1990) was an American historian of education renowned for his comprehensive three-volume series American Education, with the second volume, American Education: The National Experience, 1783-1876, earning the 1962 Bancroft Prize and the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for History. archives.
