About Laurens Van Der Post
Sir Laurens van der Post (1906-1996) was a South African Afrikaner author, explorer, soldier, and conservationist known for his works on Africa, the Kalahari Bushmen, and Jungian philosophy, including notable books like The Lost World of the Kalahari, A Story Like the Wind, A Far-Off Place, and The Seed and the Sower (adapted into Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence). He received the CBE in 1947 and a knighthood in 1981 for his contributions, and was a confidant to figures like Prince Charles and Margaret Thatcher.
