About Kōtarō Samukawa
Kōtarō Samukawa (1908-1977) was a Japanese novelist born in Haboro, Hokkaido, who won the prestigious 10th Akutagawa Prize in 1939 (awarded 1940) for his debut work Mitsuryōsha (The Poacher), becoming the first Hokkaido-born writer to receive the honor.
