About Kiyohiro Miura

Kiyohiro Miura (born 1930 in Muroran, Hokkaido) is a Japanese writer known for his novel Chōnan no shukke (長男の出家), translated as My Young Son Becomes a Zen Monk or He's Leaving Home, which won the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 1988. After studying at the University of Tokyo, he earned a B.A. from San Jose State University in 1955 and an MFA from the University of Iowa in 1958. Akutagawa Prize
