About Kit de Waal
Kit de Waal is a British novelist born in Birmingham in 1960, of Irish-Caribbean heritage. She worked in criminal and family law for fifteen years before becoming a writer. My Name Is Leon (2016) was her debut novel, shortlisted for the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year and the British Book Awards. She co-edited the anthology Common People (2019). De Waal is an advocate for working-class writers.
