Kevin Henkes

Kevin Henkes (born November 27, 1960) is an American author and illustrator of children's books, best known for picture books featuring anthropomorphic mice such as Chrysanthemum, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, and Owen, as well as novels like Olive's Ocean and The Year of Billy Miller. He has received the Caldecott Medal for Kitten's First Full Moon (2005), Caldecott Honors for Owen (1994) and Waiting (2016), Newbery Honors for Olive's Ocean (2004) and The Year of Billy Miller (2014), and the Children's Literature Legacy Award (2020).
