About Kelly Lytle Hernandez
Kelly Lytle Hernández (born 1974) is an American historian and UCLA professor renowned for her works on race, immigration, policing, and mass incarceration, including Migra! A History of the U.S. Border Patrol (2010), City of Inmates (2017), and Bad Mexicans: Race, Empire, and Revolution in the Borderlands (2022, Bancroft Prize winner). She received the MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship in 2019 and numerous other awards for her scholarship.
