Keizō Hino

Keizō Hino (1929–2002) was a Japanese author renowned for his surrealistic and autobiographical fiction focusing on urban and environmental themes. Born in Tokyo, he worked as a foreign correspondent for Yomiuri Shimbun before becoming a novelist, winning the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 1974 for Ano yūhi (The Evening Sun) and the Tanizaki Prize in 1986 for Sakyū ga ugoku yō ni, among other awards including the Izumi Kyōka Prize and Noma Literary Prize.
