About K. M. Peyton
Kathleen Wendy Herald Peyton MBE (1929–2023), who wrote as K. M. Peyton, was a prolific British author of over 50 novels for children and young adults, best known for her Flambards series spanning the period before and after World War I, as well as the Pennington and Ruth Hollis series. She won the Carnegie Medal in 1969 for The Edge of the Cloud and the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize in 1970 for the Flambards trilogy, and was appointed MBE in 2014 for services to children's literature.
