Jutta Bauer

Jutta Bauer (1955–2025) was a German writer and illustrator of children's books. Born in Hamburg, she studied design there and worked as a cartoonist before gaining international acclaim, including the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 2010 for her lasting contribution as an illustrator. She won the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis for Schreimutter in 2001 and was known for her philosophical and humorous picture books.
