About Julie Sheehan

Julie Sheehan (born 1964) is an American poet born in Iowa. She earned a BA from Yale University and an MFA from Columbia University, and has published three poetry collections: Thaw (2001), Orient Point (2006), and Bar Book: Poems and Otherwise (2010). Her awards include the Whiting Writers' Award, Barnard Women Poets Prize for Orient Point, and a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship; she directs the MFA program at Stony Brook Southampton.
