About Juan Ramón Jiménez
Juan Ramón Jiménez (1881–1958) was a Spanish poet born in Moguer, Spain, who became a key figure in modern Spanish literature through his lyrical works influenced by symbolism and modernismo. He is best known for his prose poetry masterpiece Platero y yo (1914-1917), which celebrates his hometown and won international acclaim. In 1956, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature for his lyrical poetry exemplifying high spirit and artistic purity.
