About Jürg Schubiger

Jürg Schubiger (1936–2014) was a Swiss psychotherapist, academic, and acclaimed writer of children's books. Born in Zürich and raised in Winterthur, he studied German Studies, Psychology, and Philosophy at the University of Zürich, writing his PhD thesis on Franz Kafka, before working as a writer and psychotherapist in Zürich. He received the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis in 1996 for Als die Welt noch jung war and the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 2008 for his lasting contribution to children's literature.
