About José García Nieto

José García Nieto (1914-2001) was a prominent Spanish poet of the postwar generation, known for his rooted, classical style influenced by Garcilaso de la Vega. A journalist and founder of the literary magazine Garcilaso, he produced an extensive body of lyrical poetry exploring themes of love, religion, nature, and humanism, earning multiple National Poetry Prizes and election to the Real Academia Española.
