John J. Pershing

John J. Pershing (1860-1948) was an American general who commanded the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I and later authored the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir My Experiences in the World War (1931), along with My Life Before the World War, 1860-1917. His writings, recognized with the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for History, provide detailed accounts of his extensive military career from frontier service to global command.
