John Hersey

John Hersey (1914-1993) was an American author and journalist renowned for his pioneering "New Journalism" and documentary fiction on World War II events, including his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A Bell for Adano (1944) and the seminal nonfiction work Hiroshima (1946), voted the finest American journalism of the 20th century.
