About John Grigg
John Edward Poynder Grigg (1924–2001) was a British biographer, historian, journalist, and politician renowned for his multi-volume biography of David Lloyd George, including The Young Lloyd George (1973), Lloyd George: The People's Champion (1978, Whitbread Award), Lloyd George, From Peace To War (1985, Wolfson Prize), and the posthumously completed Lloyd George: War Leader (2002). He gained notoriety for his 1957 article "The Monarchy Today," criticizing Queen Elizabeth II's court, and edited the National and English Review while contributing to The Guardian and The Times. A liberal Tory, he disclaimed his hereditary peerage as 2nd Baron Altrincham in 1963.
