John Edgar Wideman

John Edgar Wideman (born 1941) is an American author renowned for his experimental novels, memoirs, and essays exploring African American experiences, family, race, and urban life, notably in Pittsburgh's Homewood. His notable works include the Homewood trilogy (Damballah, Hiding Place, Sent for You Yesterday), Brothers and Keepers, and Philadelphia Fire, for which he became the first writer to win the PEN/Faulkner Award twice, along with a MacArthur Fellowship.
