About Joan D. Vinge
Joan D. Vinge (born April 2, 1948) is an American science fiction author best known for her Hugo Award-winning novel The Snow Queen (1980) and its sequels, as well as the Cat series beginning with Psion (1982) and the Heaven's Chronicles. She also won a Hugo for the novelette "Eyes of Amber" (1977) and has received multiple nominations for Hugo and Nebula Awards, though a 2002 car accident and fibromyalgia have limited her writing.
