About Jesús Zárate
Jesús Zárate Moreno (1915-1967) was a Colombian writer, journalist, lawyer, and diplomat who served in missions in Spain, the US, Cuba, Mexico, and Sweden. He authored several short story collections including Un zapato en el jardín (1948), El viento en el rostro (1953), and El día de mi muerte (1955), plays, and novels such as El cartero (1973); his most notable achievement was winning the prestigious Planeta Prize posthumously in 1972 for La cárcel, the only such award given to a deceased author.
