Jeff Sharlet (born 1971 or 1972) is an American journalist, author, and academic known for his immersive nonfiction on religion, politics, and American society, serving as the Frederick Sessions Beebe '35 Professor in the Art of Writing at Dartmouth College. Faculty. His most notable works include The Family (2008, adapted into a Netflix series), The Undertow: Scenes from a Slow Civil War (2023, National Book Critics Circle Award finalist), and This Brilliant Darkness (2020); he has received the National Magazine Award for Reporting, MOLLY National Journalism Prize, and others. St. Lawrence University. Alive, with no death year.
