About Jean-Louis Curtis
Jean-Louis Curtis (pseudonym of Albert Laffitte; 1917-1995) was a prolific French novelist who authored over 30 works satirizing postwar French society, the bourgeoisie, and consumer culture. He gained international acclaim for his second novel Les Forêts de la nuit (The Forests of the Night), which won the prestigious Prix Goncourt in 1947, and later received the Grand Prix de littérature de l'Académie française in 1972 and election to the Académie française in 1986.
