Jean Claude Mourlevat

Jean-Claude Mourlevat (born 1952) is a French author specializing in fairy-tale, fable, and fantasy novels for young readers. Born in Ambert, Auvergne, as the fifth of six children in a farming family, he endured a harsh boarding school experience where literature became his refuge, later transitioning from teaching German and theater to full-time writing in 1997.
