About Javier Zamora
Javier Zamora (born 1990 in El Salvador) is a Salvadoran-American poet and memoirist who migrated unaccompanied to the United States at age nine to join his parents after they fled the civil war. He is the author of the poetry collections Unaccompanied (2017) and the chapbook Nine Immigrant Years (2011), as well as the New York Times bestselling memoir Solito (2022), which recounts his perilous journey. Zamora has received numerous accolades, including a 2024 Whiting Fellowship, the 2022 LA Times-Christopher Isherwood Prize, a Ruth Lilly Fellowship from the and fellowships from Stanford, Harvard, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
