James P. Carroll

James P. Carroll (born January 22, 1943, in Chicago) is an American author known for his novels and non-fiction works exploring Catholicism, war, and history. Notable novels include the New York Times bestsellers Mortal Friends, Family Trade, and Prince of Peace, while his non-fiction An American Requiem won the 1996 National Book Award and Constantine's Sword received the National Jewish Book Award, among other honors. He is a former Catholic priest, Boston Globe columnist, and Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
