About James Buchan
James Buchan (born 11 June 1954) is a Scottish novelist and historian from a literary family, grandson of John Buchan and son of William Buchan, 3rd Baron Tweedsmuir. Educated at Eton and Oxford, he worked as a Financial Times correspondent before earning acclaim for novels like A Parish of Rich Women (Whitbread Book of the Year and Betty Trask Award) and Heart's Journey in Winter (Guardian Fiction Prize), and non-fiction works such as Days of God (Washington Institute Book Prize silver medal); he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2001.
