J. K. Rowling

J. K. Rowling (born July 31, 1965) is a British author best known for the Harry Potter series, the best-selling book series in history with over 600 million copies sold, published from 1997 to 2007. Her major achievements include being appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2000 and a Companion of Honour (CH) in 2017 for services to literature and philanthropy, along with numerous literary awards such as the Hugo Award and British Book Awards. She also writes crime fiction under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
