Ian Roderick MacLeod (born August 6, 1956, in Solihull, England) is a British science fiction and fantasy author known for blending speculative elements with historical and futuristic settings in works like The Light Ages (2003), The House of Storms (2005), The Summer Isles (2005), and Song of Time (2008). His notable achievements include the Arthur C. Clarke Award and John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Song of Time (2009), two World Fantasy Awards for "The Chop Girl" (2000) and "The Summer Isles" (1999), and multiple Sidewise Awards for alternate history.
