Ian Buruma

Ian Buruma is a Dutch writer and historian. He was editor of The New York Review of Books from 2017 to 2018 and has written widely on Europe, Asia, and the Second World War. His books include Year Zero, Murder in Amsterdam, and Occidentalism. Stay Alive: Berlin, 1939–1945 was longlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize 2026.
