About Howard Nemerov
Howard Nemerov (1920-1991) was an American poet, novelist, and essayist best known for his formalist poetry collections including The Collected Poems of Howard Nemerov (1977), which won the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and Bollingen Prize, as well as The Salt Garden (1955) and Trying Conclusions (1991). Congress. He served twice as Poet Laureate Consultant to the Library of Congress (1963-1964 and 1988-1990) and taught at Washington University in St. Louis until his death from cancer.
