About Howard Moss

Howard Moss (1922-1987) was an American poet, dramatist, and critic best known for serving as poetry editor of The New Yorker from 1948 until his death, where he championed poets like Anne Sexton and Amy Clampitt. His notable works include Selected Poems (1971) and New Selected Poems (1985). He won the National Book Award for Poetry in 1972 for Selected Poems, among other honors like the Hopwood Award and membership in the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
