Hiroki Takahashi

Hiroki Takahashi is a Japanese novelist born on December 8, 1979, in Towada, Aomori Prefecture, who debuted in 2014 with Finger Bone, winning the Shincho Newcomer Award; his works, often exploring war and rural violence, include Morning Glory Day, Swimming School, Sunday People (Noma Literary Newcomer Award 2017), and his first full-length novel When the Music Stops. In 2018, he won the prestigious Akutagawa Prize for Ceremonial Fire (Okuribi), depicting brutal games among schoolboys, and received the first Towada City Citizen's Honor Award. Bookmate
