Henri Deberly

Henri Deberly (1882–1947) was a French novelist born in Amiens, who began his literary career with poetry before focusing on novels critiquing bourgeois society with psychological depth. He achieved major success winning the prestigious Prix Goncourt in 1926 for his notable work Le Supplice de Phèdre, which explores forbidden love and passion, among other works like Pancloche and La Maison des trois veuves.
