Henri Barbusse

Henri Barbusse (1873-1935) was a French novelist, poet, and political activist who gained fame for his World War I novel Under Fire (Le Feu, 1916), which won the prestigious Prix Goncourt and depicted the horrors of trench warfare based on his frontline experiences.
