Hector Bianciotti (1930-2012) was an Argentine-born French novelist renowned for his introspective works exploring identity, language, and personal history, such as Sans la miséricorde du Christ (Prix Femina 1985) and Ce que la nuit raconte au jour. He achieved major literary recognition including election to the Académie Française in 1996, Officer of the Légion d'honneur, and Officer of the Ordre national du Mérite.
